“Chukka Low doesn’t have a storyline or non-musical inspiration, but the title comes from an experience I had while working on this piece. A great friend of mine took me to a Vans store, where I splurged on a pair of shoes for the first time. Wearing these new ‘Chukka lows’ with my wardrobe made me feel hip, confident, and fashionable—and soon I realized those same feelings seeped into this piece as it unfolded.”
